helping hands:
A Students for Students Movement Inc.
Our Story
Helping Hands: A Students for Students Movement Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was founded in 2018 by two high school sophomores Vivian Yee and Adrianna Kallabat under the mission of tackling educational inequality. As Michigan natives and firm believers in the power of pedagogy, Yee and Kallabat were startled by the educational disparities that existed in their own communities. As a result, the two sought to develop an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation to support disadvantaged students and increase accessibility to high-quality education.
Through our efforts to partner with schools in disadvantaged communities, we hope to improve the accessibility to high-quality education and to help students become excited about learning. Our STUDENTS FOR STUDENTS MOVEMENT attests to our mission to engage students in addressing these issues, allowing them to immerse themselves in the role of being a "global citizen". At Helping Hands: A Students for Students Movement Inc., we value global citizenship as it teaches students to examine the community around them and actively work to make the world a better place, thus allowing them to create their own understanding of the world and service. By gaining this experience, students see the power that they possess and the unlimited extent of what they may accomplish. Helping Hands: A Students for Students Movement Inc. emerged out of a pursuit to inspire future generations and a desire to support the community around us.
